Review: Flagship

It pays to have friends in the know, especially when you want to discover new bands & musicians, this is exactly what happened when my friend and blogger Kaori suggested North Carolina folk rock band Flagship, whose self titled debut album is released tomorrow. flagshipPromo1-1024x819

The band at first listen, sound like a mixture of Fleet Foxes meets the Maine, with an indie folk overtone, that mixes ambience with strong vocals, producing a very artistic feel, while still being accessible. Their music goes from ambient & powerful, to upbeat and well crafted, something that makes the album feel less monotone than some pop folk albums that have come out over the last couple of years, instead Flagship are very reminiscent of some of the early Killers albums, so it wouldn’t at all surprise me if these five lads from Charlotte go on to follow in the their footsteps.

Sadly they don’t have any UK tour dates set, but why not follow them on Facebook or Twitter for all the latest information.
