Each year I try to go festivals that are a little different, first there was Harvest at Jimmys, then there was Rockness and this year I will be going to the Secret Garden Party, an open-minded music and arts festival that attracts 26,000 to the Cambridgeshire countryside every July.
The Secret Garden Party is a colourful and unique event, with a bit more of a devil-may-care attitude and a truly eclectic line up of DJ’s, singer songwriters, rapper and electro acts, with this years line up has something for everyone, from indie bands such as the Correspondents to Hip Hop artists like Dub Pistols, the line up also includes two bands that have recently been featured right here on Roses Have Thoughts, 90’s sounding chick rock band Deap Valley and classical electro mixing Clean Bandit.
Some festivals are all about the music (V), some are all about the experience (Glastonbury), the Secret Garden Party is defiantly a 60/40 split towards the experience and they most certainly make use of the beautiful surroundings, with the lake becoming home for one of the stages as well as somewhere you can go for a swim/mud wrestle, while the woods become for somewhere to explore and listen to some more acoustic singers.
I will be travailing down to the festival with fellow blogger Gemma Stevenson (Stop Play Listen) and a few others and will be attempting to do a live twitter feed of my time at the festival via @roseshavetweets, but if you want to live the experience with us, there are some tickets still available.
