Music | Chvrches – Dead Air

With every major film release, the soundtrack becomes a major part of the process, with the song releases becoming an exercise in hype building, rivaled only by the trailer in terms of importance, so the upcoming release of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay part 1 is no different.

As the Jenifer Lawrence juggernaut rolls into town for the third time, the Lorde curated soundtrack features some massive names, including Kanye West, Haim, Charli XCX, Bat for Lashes and Ariana Grande, as well as Lorde herself, but so far the song that is separating itself from the herd, is the contribution from Glaswegian synthpop band Chvrches, whose song Dead Air has been doing the rounds under the names of various names, including “Gene Wilder” and “Richard Pryor”, but now we know the truth and can enjoy the dark synth sound that accompanies Lauren Mayburry’s beautifully delicate vocals.

  1. Absolutely love the song but disappointed movies rarely include the soundtrack songs in the movies themselves anymore. Regardless of that our group is happy to have a couple of new Chvrches songs until the next album is released. Can’t wait Chvrches!
