Music | Låpsley
Straight out of school, Holly Fletcher, otherwise known as Låpsley, has set about changing people’s perception of how far the Liverpool music scene has come since the fall of Merseybeat.
Låpsley‘s blend of soulful electro, has fast made her one of the most hotly tipped new indie artists of 2014, treating us to the likes of ‘Station’, ‘Painter (Valentine)‘ and ‘Pick Me Up‘, all of which contain an interesting mixture of complex vocals, understated electronic pop backings and soulful R&B grooves, combining to produce a collection of soothing and hypnotizing anthems, that you can’t help but love.
At the tender age of 18, she has already played some pretty impressive gigs, including at set at this years Glastonbury, as well as getting some pretty serious air play courtesy of Radio 1 and won Liverpool’s GIT One To Watch Award, not bad for someone gearing up for her debut, Understudy, due January 5th, via XL Recordings (home of Adele, The XX and Jai Paul).
Expect to see some big things for Låpsley in the future, but for now, just lay back and enjoy her latest track ‘Falling Short‘
