Travel | Ironbridge

Sometimes you just need to escape everyone and everything.

Not far from where I call home is the beautiful world heritage site Ironbridge Gorge, a lovely sweeping valley which cuts its way through the Shropshire countryside that is home to stunning former industrial buildings and various other monuments to its past as the birthplace of the industrial revolution.

The old canal tracks

Now that the weather has started to improve and the clocks have gone forwards, I took the opportunity to stroll along the riverside and explore just some of the sights that greet you on your way downstream as the sun slowly set.

The furnaces at sunset
Visions of an industrial past
One of the many side streets in Ironbridge
Getting up close and personal with the old girl
The Iron Bridge
The first iron bridge in the world
The very picturesque Ironbridge gorge
The River Severn winding its way downstream
Must of been quite a sight when in use
