Batman isn’t done with the DC cinematic universe just yet, well sorta
Director: David F. Sandberg
Staring: Zachary Levi, Mark Strong, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer
Genre: Superhero Action/Comedy
Last Monday Warner Bros gave us another glimpse into the latest entry in DC cinematic universe by releasing the second trailer for Shazam, the story of Billy Batson, a 14-year-old orphan from Philadelphia who is given the ability by the wizard Shazam to transform himself into an adult superhero (who is technically called Captain Marvel).
From the trailers and the casting choices you can tell that DC has most definitely changed course from the dark and brooding beginnings towards something a lot lighter and funnier, which given the successes of both Wonder Woman and Aquaman seems to be the route to more successful and generally entertaining films.
The casting of Levi is the perfect piece of casting for Shazam, a superhero with the mind of a teenager, his comedic prowess in Chuck was plain to see and should lend itself to the character.
Another piece of casting that I’m excited about is seeing Mark Strong play the antagonist Dr. Thaddeus Sivana, he’s been entertaining in both Kingsman and Deep State, I’m really looking forwards to seeing what he will do with the role.
Even before seeing the second trailer I was hyped to see this film and this trailer has made me even more excited for this to come out, how about you lot, are you looking forwards to Shazam as much as I am?
