A group of teens discover a book while exploring an abandoned house only to discover that the stories it contains become all too real once read.
Everyone has films they consider a guilty pleasure, one that they love but isn’t necessarily a good film, one of mine happens to be the 2003 horror film, Darkness Falls, when watching the trailer for Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark all I could think was how much the tone and style reminded me of my guilty pleasure, but this isn’t necessarily a good thing as that film came out 16 years ago and like I said earlier Darkness Falls wouldn’t be classed as a good film, just one that I personally find entertaining.
I didn’t dislike the trailer and some of the visuals and character design looks great, so there is hope yet that Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark ends up being an above average teen horror flick reminiscent of the ones we used to get in the late ’90s early ’00s, rather than the river of forgettable teen horrors we have seemingly treated too in recent years, but given the film’s association with Guillermo del Toro I’m not holding my breath
When will I go to see it: If it gets a theatrical release, maybe I’ll go if there’s nothing else on
If you liked: Jeepers Creepers, Darkness Falls, Final Destination
