Photography | Tarik Ahmet – Out of Season

A few years ago photographer Tarik Ahmet first came to my attention with a collection of images documenting the first 24 hours on the London Underground, with each image capturing one of the many interesting little events that can happen every day on one of the busiest undergrounds in the world.

So when I came across his latest series focusing on the Essex seaside town Walton-on-the-Naze outside of peak season, I was excited to see what he could do in a location that is the polar opposite of the always busy underground.

Not quite a ghost town, but not far away, Walton-on-the-Naze has an almost dreamlike feel in Tarik’s images, faded from its former glory, with everything from the buildings to the people passed their prime and harking back to their former glories, something that you might not notice when the resort is at its peak.
