Troma movies aren’t supposed to be good, quite the opposite. They’re meant to be cheap, over-the-top and kind of stupid, but above all, they’re meant to be fun. Something the makers of Surf Nazis Must Die understood and perfected. It a true so bad it’s good, watch it with a group of friends movie.
The plot is paper-thin, but director Peter George handles the small amount of story extremely well, giving us a surprisingly restrained exploitation picture given the outlandish idea of neo-Nazi surf gangs fighting for supremacy on the beaches of California while some may be disappointed by the decision to double-down on the blood & gore, To me George found the perfect balance between violence and humour to make this ridiculous plot entertaining.
An enjoyable distraction for when you want to sit back and disconnect your brain. Surf Nazis Must Die isn’t a good movie, the acting is cheesy; the plot is outrageous and the character development is non-excitant; it is, however, an infinity re-watchable movie.
