Maybe it was the talk of DiCaprio’s accent but Blood Diamond became one of those films that managed to skip me by but I’m wishing it hadn’t. Tension-filled and showcasing the diamond industries’ darker and more exploitative side, sure it’s a lot of parts that are difficult to watch, but Blood Diamond sometimes that’s what’s needed to raise awareness of an issue.

For me, the most difficult aspect was seeing the brainwashing of the children by the rebels, turning them into soldiers to help overthrow the governments, it’s a haunting thought that this continues to go on and watching the struggle a father (Hounsou) went through to rescue his son from these gangs is an emotional rollercoaster.
I’m not saying that Blood Diamond is a perfect film, there’s DiCaprio’s accent, I mean sure you get used to it but it does throw you, to begin with, it has more than its fair share of clichés and the decision to place 1999 seems a little unnecessary given that these issues still exist and the laws put in place to stop the blood diamond trade haven’t really stopped this from being a thing that happens.
I am a fan of Leo DiCaprio so I will definitely check out this movie. Looks really good! Thanks for sharing!
I watched this movie a long time ago. I remember thinking it was pretty cool.
Blood Diamond is an oldie but a goodie. It never gets old. I’ve seen it so many times, and it’s always just as good as the first time.
I never watched this one because the subject matter seems so heavy, but now I’ll have to watch it just so I can hear Leonardo DiCaprio’s accent lol. Also, Jennifer Connelly is great in everything I’ve seen her in.
That is one of my favorite movies of all time.
A movie with Jennifer Connelly is always high up on my list if I get to choose, and if you enter a big name like Dicaprio as well… well, how can that be wrong?
I love old movies! especially those starring Leonardo! I might add this to my movie list. Ill find time during weekends to watch this.
I have never watched this yet. But, it seems an interesting movie to watch. I will check it again to see the whole movie.
I don’t remember if I have seen this, but I don’t think I have. It sounds like a good movie. We are struggling trying to find things to watch and I will have to add this to my list.
I have watched this movie. Its good and especially the act of Leonardo. He is super brilliant. Good you wrote a review.
This is on my list to watch at stay at home.
This was a really great movie. Leonardo really did a great job as lead.
Good to know about the cliches. Sometimes that can be so annoying. But I remember friends being really affected by this movie and refusing to buy diamond engagement rings that year.
Love, love, love this film. I have this on dvd and it is one of my favs…’I am the cameraman’ Brilliant film, good cast and emotional x
Thanks for another great movie review! This was on my watch list and I can’t wait to see this film!
I haven’t seen this yet. I’ll def have to g and check it out.
I am a Leo fan and I love this movie. Especially that the movie took place in Africa and we don’t get to see a lot of revealing some of the harsh situations there. Thanks for bringing this up and I will share with my friends – Knycx journeying
I liked the movie, although I agree that seeing the brainwashing of the children by the rebels, turning them into soldiers is hard to watch!
It sounds like a great movie. And the best part is that I have the time to watch it!
That sounds like an interesting movie to watch with the family. I bet my husband would love this this.
