Interview with the Vampire is an atmospheric, highly gripping romance between two souls that just happen to be vampires, and that’s what makes it the perfect “vampire movie”. A movie that involves blood-sucking creatures of the night, yet at its core is a fantastic story carried by complex, compelling and deeply enjoyable characters.

Brad Pitt’s performance in the role of Louis is spectacular; easily embodies the torrent of mixed emotions that run through Louis’ soul, while Tom Cruise comes very close to the Lestat that my mind conjured when reading Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles, effortlessly capturing arrogance, passion and affection of this complicated soul. A Young Kirsten Dunst is also ideal as Claudia, a vampire child filled with hate, pain and torment, as well as different levels of love for her adopted fathers.

Interview with the Vampire takes an interesting look at the joys and pains that go along with immortality, through deep incredibly powerful performances by charismatic characters, rich backdrops and complex plotlines. Gripping from start to finish, this is the move that will make you fall in love with the world of vampirism and the writing of Anne Rice.
